Summer Loving

Summer life has been motoring along. Ever since we have returned home, it has been in the high 80's to the 90's and I am loving it. My plants are enjoying being dry and upright without the beating of the rain. I swear it is the first year in many that my Fireweed is tall and straight.

We enjoyed the 4th of July as a family. Having a picnic supper and setting off a few of our own works. We gathered our chairs and glow necklaces and headed to one of our high school fields to watch the big works. It was fun and chill. And after being away, I loved being with my kids.

I have settled into a routine of early mornings out in the garden. Letting the cats in and out, and in and out....lol Eating up all the fresh raspberries I can stomach and then when it gets hot, I retreat to my couch to catch up on some shows. I finished The Crown and am eagerly waiting for the new season. And that sparked me to watch anything else Royal on Netflix. I am becoming quite an expert on all things Royal....lol

My love and I use most Saturday mornings to drive all over our fair city looking for treasures. It has been a bleak summer so far. Not much out there. But we do love to sit there, drink our coffee, discuss the world and tromp thru strangers yards. I did score this little fellow recently and I am in love!

Hubs recently ran in the Missoula Half Marathon and did wonderful! I don't know how he can muster all that energy at 6am....lol The kids and I were there to cheer him on and once he ran by, we settled in for some coffee and strudel (the race runs right by my kids house). Personally, I think we got the better end of the deal. But hey, he got a metal. (He's in the yellow hat.)

Well, that is about it for over here. I am currently house sitting part time, for my kids while they whoop it up in San Diego at Comic Con. They have such a good time mingling with other fans of cosplay and of movies and anime. I'll be glad to get them home, safe and sound. Always, Kit

Oregon 2018

Here I am! Well I can certainly tell I am not at the sea anymore. 96 degrees yesterday and the rest of this week will be in the high 80's. Summer is definitely here. But for awhile I basked in the high 60's and the cool ocean breeze. It was lovely. I love my cool weather. And crashing waves and seagulls. And seafood. And sunsets. And boats. And..... I think you get the picture. I love the sea!

Our flights were great and so much better than the 2 day drive to get here. We were even able to visit my favorite antique store on the drive to the coast and I got a lovely yellow watering can.  The condo looked even more incredible with new beaded pillows and art. And our bottle of wine was waiting for us. Perfect after a long day. The next day, we visited Cape Foulweather (I would love to make this place my home.) What a view!

One of the many things we love to do is go to the Marine Gardens. On that fish plate are all the treasures we found in one visit. Sea glass, shells, agates, cobbles and polished stones. And one of the main things I do is eat Clam Chowder. Everyone says they make the best, but by far my favorite is at Kyllo's in Lincoln City.

I love the "kitschyness" of seaside towns. Lots of color and windsocks. And the flowers are incredible. Anything grows in Oregon!

Quiet pensive moments were aplenty. We take time to just be and to sit. My favorite part of the trip. Just going full steam is tiresome and I loved my mornings spent in front of the sea, sipping my coffee and watching the whales and seabirds.

Meet our seagull. He was a daily visitor and there were times I thought he would walk right in...lol Nice to have a pet since I missed my cats. Hubby put together 2 puzzles this trip. He loves it. Me? Not so much. But I do love Coconut Shrimp....lol

While there, we travel up and down the coast. To Cannon Beach and then south to Florence. We walk on beaches, visit antique stores and galleries, and sometimes see something never seen before. A dog in his very own trailer, rolling down Hwy 101 and having the time of his life. Just like I felt. :) Always, Kit
