The sun is shining, the whole town seems to be thatching their lawns and our snow is finally gone. I hear it may even reach 61 degrees today. I hope everyone has a wonderful celebration tomorrow. Ours is a bit different this year, since our oldest is down in Copper Mountain, Colorado competing in the Nationals (in snowboarding) we are moving Easter to next weekend. My youngest and I will go to church tomorrow and then her Daddy and I will take her out to Easter dinner at a local restaurant. Next Sunday, we will dart about the yard looking for eggs and have our baskets. Easter times 2! I like the sound of that. Happy Easter Everyone. Always, Kit

35 years Together

Yesterday on Facebook, my youngest girl E.Charlotte posted this for her Daddy and me. :)  Always, Kit

First Christmas Party
"35 years ago, on spring break, my parents were married. A beautiful candle-lit ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Granted, I wasn't there, but their photos speak a million happy words. My mom, looking beautiful with her circle of flowers in her hair, my dad, with full mutton-chops smiling from ear to ear. They are the best example of love I've ever been given; the strongest team I've ever known; a couple that still knows what it means to be deeply in love. Happy Anniversary ♥"

The St. Patrick's Day Parade!

It was a bit overcast, and chilly, but our town didn't care. We showed up on Higgins Ave. all dressed in whatever shade of green we could find and we all reveled in being Irish. Lots of floats, horses, dogs, hot rods, and children. And of course candy! I was lucky to have my girls, hubby and my daughter's young man with us to celebrate. We greeted friends, clapped for the horse pooper scoopers, enjoyed the bag pipers, and oohed and ahhhed over costumes and hair colors. Such a fun time. Just what us Northern clime folks need in March.  Have a very Happy St. Pat's Day! Always, Kit

The Sound of Spring!

It happened today! I have been waiting for it for days, knew it could happen anytime. I was chatting with the hubby, all of a sudden I put up my hand to shush him, we listened and distinctly heard ~ the song of the Robin! We sprinted outside and to the East of us was a tree full of robins. They were having a merry time and from what I could pick up, they had had a very lovely, but tiring journey to Montana and asked if they could eat the berries off my Privet Hedge. I of course, said yes.  :)

A Favorite Thing ~ Steampunk Train

Do you know what Steampunk is? It is a favorite art form for me. I remember the first time I heard of it, my oldest daughter was going to New Orleans for Halloween and her costume was going to be a "sort of Steampunk dancer". Say what??  It was beautiful, all purple and black (she used her old prom dress) and covered with all sorts of mechanical odds and ends. It was quite the unique and beautiful creation.

(My lovely daughter is the one all the way to the left)

And there started my love affair. We have several books on the subject and whenever I read a magazine or watch a show, I look for items that reflect this type of art.

(Some lovely items found on the web)

Recently on a new show on HGTV called Home Strange Home, we were enjoying this man's lovely home when what did we spy but a Steampunk Train or vehicle of some sort. We froze the screen and I remarked, "Oooo, I really like that!" Well, no sooner was it out of my mouth, but my hubby's brain started working and come Valentine's Day, all wrapped up in pretty red paper, was my very own rendition. Oh it is so lovely and made out of the coolest items. A vintage lite bulb, a whisk, parts to a lamp and a veterinarians syringe! Now how neat is that?! I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it is the equal to a Ming Vase. :) Always, Kit

Three Day Weekend!

Nothing evokes such joy, as the anticipation of a three day weekend. I went to bed early last night, I was fried. Too much going on this week. We had a mid year graduation and I had to say goodbye to a bunch of wonderful kids, the boiler at work decided to die, so during temps in the 40's, we were all trying to keep warm and I have been busy getting my taxes ready. Whew!

But that is all behind me now and now is the time to have some fun. To start off I am heading down the valley today, a lovely drive thru beautiful country to see my Mom. We will chat, eat a fabulous lunch and then do some thrifting. Who knows what we may find, but it will be a fun time.

The rest of the weekend will be up for grabs. Whatever I want to do, I will! I have been steadily working on my attic space (purging) and so that will be put on the list. A movie tonight in the comfort of our home with a huge bowl of popcorn and my love. Perfect. And that is all the planning I will do. The rest will just come to me. :) Always, Kit
