As you can see I have gone Disney. Celebrating the Wonderful World of Color! About a month ago, I got to thinking, winters in Montana are very long, and it would be great to have a little break to get us to the spring. I did the research, crunched the numbers and broached the subject to the hubby. How about we take a week, fly to Californey, and visit Mickey and his friends and bask in the sun and dig our toes into the sand of Huntington Beach. After the look of surprise (what left field did this come out of?) he was on board and as eager as I. The time has arrived and we are ready. We fly out on Monday and we can't wait to get to Disneyland and California Adventure. Both of us are crazy about Disney and never tire of the rides, parades, characters and the immense fun. Celebrating 34 years of marriage will be perfect in the Happiest Place on Earth! Always, Kit

Costa Rica

A place I didn't really know where on the map it was, until about a couple of months ago. Oldest daughter came to me one day and was literally bouncing off the walls. The company she works for was sending her to Costa Rica to help with a swift water training class. And boy was she excited! This is a girl who loves any kind of adventure and is at ease with minimal comfort. She can pack everything she needs in one back pack, looks for unique and cheap accommodations and finds the best way to get around on a dime. And she has such a blast. Today on her itinerary she was slated to visit Arenal Volcano and the hot springs. She is hoping to visit the Cloud Forest and learn how to surf on one of their many lovely beaches. Wow! Already we are getting reports of the wonderful food and people and she saw two giant iguanas and a sloth! I just know she is wearing the hugest smile. I can't wait to get her back home (that's the Mom in me talking) and see all the photos, and hear all the great stories. She is making memories of a life time for sure. Always, Kit

Happy Valentine's Day!

What a great holiday! I love the excitement of it. The surprise, the wondering. Just like when we were kids and we couldn't wait to see who put a Valentine in our decorated box. Hoping against all hope that one would be from the boy we liked the most. Well, my favorite Valentine came to my workplace with flowers in the cutest latte cup. It read: I love you with all my Heart. Oh my. I was a goner. So very pretty and we got to sneak some kisses in while the students were in class. :) Then if that was not enough, my youngest surprised me with a lovely pink rose and a balloon on my car that had the school constantly asking me, "Did you see your car?". The kids were so thrilled for me. I think everyone should have a balloon on their car, daily. So I have been spoiled and I love it. Now I have to scurry and finish up my surprises to my hubby. I want him to feel as loved as I do right now. Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! Always, Kit

Who can resist them? I tend to gravitate toward them in all forms and all colors. And I decorate with them all year round. After saying that I "do not sprinkle hearts all over the place", I got to looking and was surprised by how many I have....LOL And I seem to love the ones that come in the not so regular color of red. Give me a bright blue beaded pin anytime! And just look at that pillow in it's shades of blue, white and the pretty floral. No wonder they caught my eye.
Henry van Dyke said it perfectly, when he wrote:

"Every house where love abides,
And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home.
For there the heart can rest."

Let's fill our homes with hearts and love this Valentine's Day! Always, Kit

Decorating for Valentine's Day

After all the hoop-la of Christmas, I love to calm the house down and for January, my home is very subtle in color and minimal in decor. But with the coming of February, I am needing some touches of red, and the punch of black and white to bring some life back into the space. I do not decorate for the holiday the conventional way. I like red hearts, but I don't sprinkle them all over the place. I hang one on my front door, I have a couple that hang on my walls, but for the most part I just love to add the color red here and there. Using a vintage cookie jar, a sewing whimsy, a kitschy chicken and a carving made by hubby, I get just the right amount of Valentine cheer.
Always, Kit

Loving this Saturday!

Yesterday was a killer. Work was crazy, my car was in the shop, projects had no appeal and by 8 o'clock I was ready for bed. The only redeeming feature was that I didn't have to cook, I got to visit with the hubby and we watched Groundhog Day.

Today, I rose to lovely blue skies, tho very cold. I had slept 10 hours! Can you believe it? This lady was tired. Dead tired...LOL But I feel great now, sipping my cup of Joe and eating an orange roll or two. I have my little black book open next to me (not full of boyfriend's names) with my list of things to do today. And I am ready to tackle them. I am so looking forward to a full day with the sound of my gel pen scratching off each and every item. First up? I really need to decorate the living room for Valentine's Day. I am needing me a splash of red for sure! Always, Kit

I am in Love with...

Blog Books! Have any of you made your blog into a book? I just received number 2 and it is beautiful. It is so easy to do through this web site:
They take you through every step and the book comes out looking like a book you would buy in a book store. I went with the hardcover version in the blue and the green. I am very impressed by the quality of the photos and it is fun to sit back on the couch and review the past year. My hubby does not like to do much on the computer once he gets home from work, so this is the perfect way for him to see what I have been up to. Uh oh! I may have some explaining to do. Always, Kit
