The Good Life

I had my dream day the other day. Nothing grandiose and earth shattering, but simple and one I have wanted for so long. Back when I worked, I would wake and it would be cold and rainy and all I wanted to do was to stay home and be cozy. Maybe bake, maybe read, maybe... But no, I would get myself out the door and do my obligation. But the other day, we had one of those days and I curled up on the sofa, turned on my little lights and just looked out the window. It was everything I had dreamed it would be.

Now with October, I am in full Halloween mode. I have changed out my house to everything orange and black. It looks so different and wonderful. I must admit I have a ongoing obsession with Blowmold Halloween. Anything pumpkin, ghost or witch, I will seek. I have been lucky and have found a couple at yard sales for only 50 cents each. Otherwise they can get really pricey. So far I have about 8 of them. I restuffed my scarecrow and he is now outside protecting our home. I have had Ed for over 30 years now and we just couldn't have Halloween without him.

I have taken up my journaling again. Not electronic. In a real book with a real pen. I have kept a journal since I was 16. That is a lot of years. But I have to admit with blogging and Instagram I stopped writing. But recently I started reading some of my journals and was amazed how much info I had written about. So I am back to it, and have been logging in every day. It feels wonderful!

And speaking of Instagram. I just love it! So simple and fun. I enjoy the process of finding a pic to share and I could spend hours (but I don't) looking at all the homes and topics that are posted. I especially love the new friends I have found across the pond and here in the states.

So other than just regular life happening, that is it for here. With the cooler weather, I have been cooking and baking more. And I have put my yard art to bed for the season. My flowers are still going great, but I fear our first frost is imminent. Football fills my weekends, college and professional and I adore it! Nothing better than screaming at a television screen....lol Always, Kit

I don't see the Blow Mold decor too much anymore. Sadly, most seem to love those darned blow up decorations. For sure we'll see Santa on a Harley, Santa peeking out of an Outhouse and Frosty standing 10 ft tall this Christmas. Oh there are lots of Ghost in my neighborhood too. I have been retired since 2013 and every icky day I thank the Universe that I can stay home and every sunny warm day with a nice breeze I am equally grateful I can enjoy all day long. The days roll on and we are lucky when we can make the very best of them.
xx, Carol

It really is a great feeling, staying home. I used to iron my clothes for the day and think, "If I could stay home I would . . . " Now we can! Yay!

When we scream at the television screen, our kids tell us "you know they can't hear you, right?" Ha! When I was working in a windowless office and the weather was perfect outside at around 70 degrees with clear blue skies when the winter season would roll around, I would dream of staying home instead of being stuck at work, so I understand exactly how you feel, even though you wanted to enjoy the indoors while I wanted to be outside. We don't have many months of beautiful weather so gotta take advantage of it when we can. I love how you are able to change up your decorations. I'm just not that organized and already have so much stuff that anything I do put out tends to get lost. I guess though that I should make use of my Fall/pumpkin items now that it's the season.

You've described one of my dreams, too. It's hard to get out the door on a cold drizzly morning. Just a couple more years for me.

Kit - yes, that's what retirement is all about - to do what you want, when you want! So glad that dream is finally here for you! I know I don't have as many Halloween decorations as you, but what I have has been proudly displayed since October 1! Today we added our final touch to the front porch - some corn stalks. (Of course, I am putting my mums away on the back deck every night to protect them from the deer!) I hope you have a wonderful fall-ish week!

Your dream day sounds perfect and as it happens is also my idea of a dream day. I bet that doesn't surprise you! I hope you have many more just like it this autumn.
