And with huge smiles. What a great trip! I must say as we get older the trips are a little harder to do. I really can't stand heat and humidity. And I have a bit of a back problem, the problem is, it gets sore and tired with excess walking and standing in place. So what do we do? Go to Disneyland in Sept and walk excessively....lol The temps topped out in the high 80's, but most days the humidity was low. Thank heavens! I use a cane now in places like this and it helped considerably. We took it slow and I rested a lot, but we managed to see everything and multiple times. Also the wait times for some rides can be hellish, but if you use the Fastpass system, it is great! I think the longest I had to wait was 20 min. So here is an overloaded post with lots of pics.
I just love flying and was so thrilled to see that our first plane was the Griz Plane! I just knew that was a good sign. My daughter gave us a present for our second plane (a tradition of ours) and it was so cute, little Mickey figures in Mickey balls. Our room was great. Very modern and simple and with a view of Disneyland. You may wonder, what is with the donettes and beer? My go to snack at the end of a long long day....lol
We arrived and it was lovely. All the Halloween decor up and in place. As I wandered by the castle, a proposal was happening. And she said yes! First ride was Peter Pan and then Mr. Toad. This year I had special buttons made for us. They say: Celebrating 40 Years of Happily Ever After.
No I am no sweating in that one pic, we got soaked on Splash Mountain and it felt so great! I love the new Dumbo ride and to dry our clothes out we road Thunder Mountain Railroad (my fav roller coaster).
The Mansion is incredible with it's new "overlay" and my hubby got to see it for the first time. Not only do we ride the rides. But we seek out the unusual and the back corners of the park. Here we watched the Mark Twain go by as we ate our lunch at the Hungry Bear Restaurant and some Pirate singers serenaded us as we strolled by New Orleans Square.
On our second day we checked out California Adventure and their new Pixar Pier. Well, I don't see why all that money was spent, it was okay, but it looks so much like the old land, they could have saved the effort....lol We rode the Increda Coaster (formally California Screamin) and it was still great, but I am not a fan of the Incredibles, so eh? Love love, Cars Land and it is all dressed up for Halloween. The Racers are a favorite of both mine the hubby. And here's a tip, if you go. Ride Single Rider if you can (no young kids alone) it is quick and fun and saves so much time in the queue.
Breaks are a good thing, or you will start face palming little children....lol We always love the Disney parades and find a shady and out of the way place to watch them. Only pitfall? You will have that song in your head the whole day....lol Dole whip and a table on the main square is great. Lots of great people watching. We also love all the shows that Disney puts on. One of the best is at the Royal Theater. Smythe and Jones and Beauty and the Beast and Tangled. So funny!
The new Halloween ears are out. So pretty, but I prefer my hat, but I had fun trying them on. Hubby likes to get a bit goofy on the Toy Story Mania ride. And thank heavens for Starbucks in both parks. Our barista was so cute and decorated our cups. :)
As the week wore on we sought out shade and cool places which gave us another two shows to see, Mickey and his Magical Map and Frozen. Wow, those performers are top notch. Other good bets to get out of the sun is Pirates of the Caribbean and the Little Mermaid Ride.
I like to try out some of the holiday fare and this dessert did not fail, in fact I couldn't eat it all. The Castmember was so sweet and gave us two anniversary buttons. I did some pin trading while I was there, which is a lot of fun. My first was to honor our marriage with the Queen and King from Alice. See that face I am making? That means "No, I do not want to get up!"....lol
So my hubby drug me over to the Plaza Restaurant where we could relax in the cool and eat Pot Roast. It was very good! Back over to Calif Adventure to see their Light up the Night Parade. So gorgeous and another song stuck in my head...lol "Why don't we do this again...."
But all good things must come to an end. I didn't mind, my body was starting to rebel after 4 days. We did some shopping of all the pretty Halloween items and picked out a few and a new ornament for Christmas. And finished the night with the fireworks show. It was fantastic! And of course when Tinkerbell flew thru the air, I burst into tears. What can I say? I love Disney! Always, Kit
