Missoula Marathon 2017

Here in Missoula (and for folks who wonder how to pronounce my town, it is Mizzoula) we have a wonderful event each summer called the Missoula Marathon. Thousands of folks come to our lovely town for the weekend and we all try and make our city shine for them. I have two runners in my family, my hubby and my youngest who run in the 1/2 Marathon. They get up before dawn and board the buses that take them to Blue Mountain. At 6am, they are off and running as I am just crawling out of bed, damning the early hour.....lol Oldest daughter and myself will watch on the course (lucky for us my girls house is on the course) sipping hot coffee, cheering on the runners and carrying signs. Folks all over town will set up sprinklers, play music, ring cow bells and we even have a pianist who serenades the runners on his grand piano out on his lawn. :) It is one giant party! My runners did great and stopped at the house (we were an aide station for them), they got their gel and water and were back at it. Only 4 more miles to go and they would cross Higgins St. bridge and be winners! They both had great results and were all smiles. So very proud of them and proud of my city which put on such an incredible event. Always, Kit

Hey Kit! You are one of the few bloggers that is able to bypass my email authorization and I'm not sure if you have your email address attached to your blog anyways, so I came here to answer your question about seafood. I've been vegetarian about 9 years and then around 4 years ago, I think -- I've lost track of time now ... I pretty much went vegan, so no dairy products and no seafood. Of course, I also believe that life is all about choices, so although on a daily basis, I choose not to eat those things, there are times when I might have something that includes dairy or seafood.
However, I've not eaten any type of meat in the past 9 years and do not plan to again. It was a natural progression for me so has been very easy. Of course, I still get asked "what do you eat?" Ha! People seem to forget there's a whole lot of grains, lentils, legumes, fruits and vegetables available to choose from. :)

Love that sign! LOVE that guy playing piano for the runners!! How cool is THAT! My motto is if God wanted me to run, he'd give me something to chase, lol. My knees protest. But I could walk it easily.

Kit - congratulations to both of your runners! I know how warm it is in Whitefish, so I can only imagine the temps in Mizzoula :-) I have run a couple of half marathons, and it is so energizing to have people cheering on the roadways. We never had a Piano Man!!!
