Where the heck is she?

Well, I am up to my neck in dirt, dried stalks, hedge trimmings and clippers! And I am loving it! We had two gloriously hot days and add a following week of cool rainy weather, and every living thing in Montana has woken up and the world is a lovely shade of green. Springtime in Montana is the best!

I am almost done my yard clean-up and now am in the stage of deciding where to move some plants  and putting in some new items I have acquired. The tulips are blooming, my apple trees are about ready to pop into lovely blossoms and Sweet Woodruff is everywhere. My cherry tree was magnificent this year, as was both of my Forsythias. With my favorite month almost here, you can bet I may be absent now and then, but you can also bet that I am having a ball! Always, Kit

What a Gorgeous Saturday!

Oh my, I am in total heaven! Tho the morning dawned rainy and cool, the afternoon turned into the kind of a Spring day, where all you want to do is twirl around with your arms outstretched, with your face tipped toward the sun and just smile. I did just that, briefly and then I got down to work. I raked and mowed and removed furniture covers. Rescued a couple of bees, did a little weeding and opened all the windows in the house. Today is a day, that it feels soooo good to be alive! Always, Kit

On to Spring!

With Easter over, along with my Spring Break (and both were so very wonderful!) I am now setting my sites on getting my yard and gardens up to snuff and welcoming the warmer days of the season. You learn in Montana to be patient, we really do not see many trees leafed out till the end of April or the beginning of May. So far we have had one day with a temp of 77 degrees and I swear the whole town was out standing on their lawns. Business stopped and traffic halted.....LOL I have a Choke Cherry that has tiny leaves starting and my Red Maple is tipped in little red blossoms. Which the bees are just loving. No Tulips or Daffy's yet. But my roses have sprouted little green leaves. The only thing blooming is my Forsythia and it is a beacon in the backyard. Just lovely!

So today I will continue the clean-up and the pruning and basic tidying. Because when we finally reach "Montana's Spring", I want to be able to just sit back and enjoy it. Always, Kit

Easter Memories

Today I am thinking about all the great Easters of the past with my little family. From the dying of the eggs, with my littlest one dropping every egg she had into the bottom of the cup with a resounding crack (why didn't I think to use plastic?...LOL) to my oldest being the best hunter at the Egg Hunts that I have ever seen. She didn't push or shove, just had a good eye and when all was done, she gave away her candy to the other kids. They liked to do crafts so we made Easter Bonnets and marched around the living room to me singing, Easter Parade. More times, than I care to say. We hid their baskets and on Easter the girls were so excited to find them and down they would plunk and spend hours going through all the toys and trinkets. Later when they were getting grown up, we had the egg hunts here in our yard and prizes were awarded (and still are) on the swing. Close your eyes, put out your hands. Squeals of delight.

Speed forward and tomorrow will see us having a big turkey feast with all the fixins', Easter Baskets filled to the brim and two egg hunts (the girls put one on for me and their Dad now). I will be told to close my eyes, and put out my hands and I will squeal with delight! Always, Kit

Easter Baskets!

When I ask my girls, "What present do you want for Easter?" I always get the same reply, no matter how old they are (26 and 29). Easter Baskets! Not money to party, or to pay a few bills or a new dress or camping gear. Just a basket full of fun trinkets and fun stuff (as they put it). My youngest says it is just like Christmas! Cracks me up. So throughout the year I collect "stuff". I don't know what I would do without Michaels Craft store. They have an aisle just brimming with items for only $1.00; from toys to stationary, home items and apparel. I happily fill my cart with the oddest assortment of items. Hit Target for specialty candies and I usually throw in a gift card or two so they can pick up some items that they really need....LOL Today I put the baskets together. I spread everything out (make sure I have the right basket - they use the same ones from childhood) and start the filling. It is fun and I get excited just imagining the oohs and ahhs, and the laughter that will come on Sunday. For a brief moment my two girls will be 3 and 6 again, and that will be my Easter present. Always, Kit

Decorating for Easter!

The sun is shining and tho it is a bit brisk out, I feel Springy! Getting all my bunnies about me. Is that like getting all your ducks in a row?...LOL I am excited to see all my old friends. For one full month they get to have their turn to shine and show off. First out of the box was my lovely Peter Rabbit. A gift from my youngest and an immediate favorite, for I love all things Beatrix Potter! Everyone is in their place and I tried to put them in new areas (cause they don't like to be in the same place twice) and all is ready. Making the living room look lighter and brighter. The wreath is on the door (of course, again a bunny) and I have to put up the flag that flies in the backyard. Later this week the egg tree will be made and then let's celebrate Easter! Always, Kit

What I am Loving Right Now

The most lazy Sunday morning in a while. I am still in my jammies, sipping my tea and I even let myself have a little chocolate chip cookie as a treat. I have a list of things to do today, but for now I am visiting Facebook, playing some online Scrabble and listening to the NASCAR race. What could be better? Well, here are a few other things that I am loving.
  1. It is the start of my Spring Break! A whole week of indulging in whatever I want to. Yes, I will do some chores, but I am planning some fun things too.
  2. Springtime! It has been very slow in coming, but it is coming. Lots of little plants sending up their shoots, and many buds on the trees. So exciting!
  3. The cutest new teddy bear! In her little hat and her champagne fur, she is so lovely and a wonderful gift from my Mom. Thanks Mom!
  4. The Bitterroot Valley! What a great drive I had, to a place I just adore. I took the back-roads and saw oh so many baby cows, geese, lambs and chickens. The mountains are still covered in snow, but the grass is starting to turn green and the river is rising. So gorgeous!
  5. Shoppping! What a fun venture, to enter a store and go on the search for something special. I found the funkiest snowman (yes, snowman!) in a Hallmark store for 75 % off. I never would have touched it at $22. But at $6, it was a steal.

There you have it, what is making me smile lately. What is making you smile? Always, Kit
