The Quest and Grand Adventure!

It all started with a chair. A lovely, soft leather chair, that swiveled and rocked and smelled like a cow. One you could totally relax in and let the cares of your life slip easily away. Problem was, it was in Oregon. Or was it? After months of investigating, wishing, whining and many many visits to Furniture Row, Bart the Super Salesman found two of these coveted chairs, (now discontinued) but they were in Great Falls, Montana. And they had to be picked up. 135 miles, and approx. 3 and 1/2 hours one way. Undaunted, youngest daughter E. Charlotte and I started planning. We could borrow a truck from hubby's work, I had a day off coming on Monday, and it would be a great road trip together. But would hubby agree? He did! (he wanted the chair as much as I did, cause I hog the one on vacation!...LOL) We decided to get both chairs, since we were getting a killer deal and it would cause less "hogging" in the future.

The day dawned sunny and warm and we headed out of town. Do you know, I have never driven a pick-up that big before and I don't know how you are supposed to get in and out without a stool. And I am not that short! But it rode like a dream and E and I spent the drive chatting away about all sorts of things, stopping when we needed a snack (Arby's!), and enjoying the beauty that can only be Montana. It is one of the prettiest drives in the state. The colors are just starting to change and the transition from mountains to prairie is incredible. What a treat! We didn't spend much time in G.Falls once our chairs were loaded and tied down.

We took a turn around Pier 1, grabbed some coffee and headed back home to the sound of Country music. I am not a big fan, but it just seemed fittin' when you are driving a pick-up. Got home by dinner time and tho tired, I was sad to see my road trip end. Not only did I get my chairs, but I spent the most incredible day with my best friend.

Autumn

"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting
and autumn a mosaic of them all."

Grizzlies!

When you live in mountain country you have to contend with a lot. But it is worth it for the scenery, the snow and the GRIZ! Tho they can be unpredictable; you can't help but love them, you want to watch them, and you just can't help but run right up to them and give them a high five and a slap on the arm. Yes, I am an avid GRIZ friend and supporter. But before you worry about me being killed or torn limb from limb, I don't mean this kind...

I mean this kind...

Aren't they gorgeous? My boys. The guys that put the meaning in my Fall Saturdays. 6 home games a year, I don my maroon and silver, grab my snacks, car flag and my hubby and head to Washington-Grizzly Stadium. From the walk across campus to watching the team enter thru the tunnel, it is an afternoon of excitement and immense fun. I get a huge feeling of pride when we play well and if we win (which is often) we get the added pleasure of having the team come right up to the stands and sing our fight song. And as those silver helmets bob up and down to the beat of "Up with Montana Boys!", I am spent, and hoarse and feeling oh so good. Go Griz!

Anne of Green Gables ~ Simple Pleasures

I am joining for the first time, Dayle over at A Collection Of This and That, for Simple Pleasures. I spent this summer re-reading the Little House series and when it was all done, I was bummed. Enter, a bored lady with a remote control looking for anything to while away an hour or two, and I came across a re-run of the wonderful series, Anne of Green Gables (not the animated one, the brilliant one with Megan Follows and Colleen Dewhurst). And as I watched it occurred to me, I had never read any of the books. Really? How could that have happened! Well, I fixed this situation quickly and headed to a wonderful store called the Book Exchange. I purchased the first three books (all for under the price of $6.00) and began my wonderful journey to Prince Edward Island. I want to savor the books, so I only read them right before I go to bed. I am just starting Book 2, and with the descriptions of cherry trees, village life and puffed sleeves, it makes for the sweetest of dreams. Always, Kit

First Week went off, with few Hitches!

I survived! And flourished. But I am always glad that the Labor Day weekend is there to give me a much needed rest-up. It was great to see all the kids; the old and the new. The teachers were up and we were all ready to start a brand new year. I had my kitchen and lunch room all set and my shelves were filled with food.
Let the fun begin!

Let's make it pretty. Apple table cloths, flower arrangements in old soup cans, and a "labeled" bulletin board!

I love COLOR! I can't make tasty food without it....LOL Throw in some paper balls, magnets from all over the world and some lovely posters. And that makes me.....

one very happy cook!
