I Graduated!

Today was a very special day. I graduated. What did I graduate from you ask? From the weekly visits to the hospital for my iron infusions. Today made number 19 and hopefully my last. It has been a long journey since August and I feel great! The nursing staff gave me a lovely certificate all signed by them and with my very own angel pin. Congratulating me on being an Outstanding Patient. And my daughter always so thoughtful, had snuck into her purse a little silver box tied with lovely ribbons, with the most beautiful pair of earrings I have ever seen inside! She sure knows how to make a Mom's heart sing. She has been with me through this whole process, keeping my outlook up and my mind off the needles and pain. I couldn't have done it without you E. LYS

The ABC's of Me!

I just went over and visited a wonderful new blog, Pondside and she had one of the following lists and I thought it would be fun to do one of my own. I love the sillyness of the questions, nothing too deep here. So here goes!

A. Age: Well for the next two months, I will be 55. But for the life of me, I can't remember getting that old. I still feel at the most, 50.

B: Bed size: Queen, and twin. If one of us is either sick or snoring, off to the twin they go. I can't function without at least 9 hours sleep.

C. Chore you hate: Ironing.

D. Dogs: Sorry none here, this is a cat house. (nothing funny intended)

E. Essential start to your day: Writing an email to my daughter and a cup of hot tea

F. Favourite color: Have to say colors. Green and Yellow.

G. Gold or silver: Has to be gold. Just looks good on me.

H: Height: 5'7 but of course my doc says it is 5'6 and 3/4 I refuse to believe I am shrinking!

I: Instruments that you can play: Just my voice

J: Job title: Head Cook and Bottle Washer. But my official title to my wonderful customers is Lunch Lady

K: Kids: 2 very beautiful, kind, and talented daughters, and they are my best friends

L: Live: Western Montana, Big Sky Country.

M: Mom’s name: Charlotte

N: Nicknames: Mommala, Scooter and Peaches.

O: Overnight hospital stays: Tonsillectomy when I was little and problems after my Tubal. Easy weekend surgery my arse!

P: Pet peeve: People who throw there cigarette butts out of their car windows. When did the earth become their ashtray?

Q: Quote from a movie: "Luke, I am your father!" (Love love Star Wars)

R: Righty or lefty: Right.

S: Sibling: one sister left, we do not get along at all. Talk about oil and water.

T: Time you wake up: 5:55 but then of course I have to hit the snooze button till it is 6:07....LOL

U: Underwear: Hate it, but it is a neccesary evil, at least until I get home and then the bra is the first thing off.

V: Vegetables you dislike: I would have to say Beets, but I really love veggies.

W: What makes you run late: I usually don't but if I do, it is because I had to take a quick potty break

X: X-rays: Mammogram tomorrow, does that count?

Y: Yummy food you make: Bubble Pizza, Snickerdoodles, Meat Loaf and Turkey dinner with all the fixin's

Z: Zoo favourite animal: Oh the Giraffes, so tall and those spots are so beautiful!

Your turn. Surprise us! Always, Kit

Mosaic Monday ~ Remembering

March 22, 1978. The bride wore a lovely dress of white with blue flowers embroidered on the bodice. Handmade by her Mother. She wore a wreath of myrtle in her curly brown hair with bits of baby's breath tucked here and there. The handsome groom wore a suit of blue and very sexy sideburns (it was the 70's after all) and a shy smile. Their flowers were yellow Roses and Pussy Willows. The church glowed with candlelight and though a simple event, quite magical. No budget of thousands; this wedding was put on by friends and family all joining in with their special assignments. Her brother Andy would be the Man of Honor (instead of a Maid of Honor), Debbie would play the piano, Patty would sing, Mel would take the photos, and her father would walk her down the aisle to the beautiful words of "The Wedding Song." ...Well then what's to be the reason for becoming man and wife? Is it love that brings you here or love that brings you life? For if loving is the answer, then who's the giving for? Do you believe in something that you've never seen before? Oh there is Love, there is Love...

And there is still so much love.

Photo Challenge ~ Pets

This week I choose for my photo, one that was taken by my oldest daughter. It is of my very first Grand-kittie and her name is Beans. I love the way she is looking straight at the camera and with half of her features darkened, it is quite beautiful. Be sure to check out more lovely picts over at Razmataz.

I am part Irish!

What a surprise and for the first time in my life, I can honestly say, "Kiss me, I'm Irish!" My youngest opened up an account at Ancestry.Com a month ago and was a sweetie to let her very curious Mom, do some snooping around. What I found is that my Great Grandmother's Mom's Mom came over on the ship Cornet from Ireland. And her husband's family also came from Ireland. What a hoot! All this time I thought I was just German and Dutch. Seems like I have a lot of English in me too. I guess you can call me a real "melting pot"....LOL And on that note, Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all!

We have Sunshine!

This weekend I finally washed my car. It has been a very long winter and finally we had a day of 50 degree temps. Yippee! And today, another glorious day of sun. Maybe more of those piles of white stuff will melt and reveal little green shoots. Boy is my yard a mess. Old leaves, brittle stems, and little cat "treasures". I can't be mad at him, I wouldn't want to head very far from the house either when it is -15 . Folks are moving about with smiles. Our neighbors are moving, the little boys on the corner have brought their bikes out and I have finally witnessed my first robin! Yes! I was indeed jumping up and down and clapping with glee. Off I go, to throw open the windows and sit on the backstep and plan. Gardening season here I come!

Not this kind!

Photo Challenge ~ Perfume

Our assignment this week? Perfume. Funny how my mind jumped right to the bottle I wanted to film. I just love the shape of this bottle. It was my late Mother-in-Law's perfume and she wore it often. Simple and from Avon, it is called Precious Doe, Field Flowers Cologne. I wanted to capture in the picture, that the deer is nestled in an early bed of Spring flowers, with still some snow on the ground. I like how the colors of the background are pulled from the color of the bottle and it's glint in it's eye, adds interest to the non-distinct head. Photo Challenge! ~ Jewelry

As stated in the prior blog, I love all that sparkles. So this one was easy. I went thru a stage a couple years back where I collected vintage earrings. I just love the style, design and fashion of them. I can just see a woman out on the town, wearing her best rhinestone pair, in her favorite cocktail dress and mink stole. Possibly waiting for her date to arrive at the hotel bar, as she sips her martini and checks her red lipstick in her compact. ;)

Rednesday ~ A Special Gift

I love sparkly things! And when they are earrings, even more so. I swear when I watch the Oscars it is not so much for the answer of who wins, but of who is wearing the most fabulous of jewelry. This year the award goes to Halle Berry with her giant and I mean giant diamond earrings. Usually you only see those babies on pro football players. Well, I will never ever own a pair of earrings that sport the name of Winston or Tiffany, but I have the next best thing. Here in our town we have a store called Miss Zula's and they have this line of earrings that everyone covets. Giant round crystals in every color imaginable. I have the blue, the green, and the pink. And I got the nicest surprise all wrapped up in a pretty bow with this lovely card attached. The clear diamond-esque set! Just gorgeous, a present from my youngest and they make me feel like a million bucks, and I don't need a body guard! She sure knows how to make her Momma smile. :) Join It's a Very Cherry World for other wonderful red items.
